Creative Cities 21 was born from our experience in finding a stronger creative voice and in turn a greater understanding of the benefits and joy it could bring in all aspects of our life.
We have lived and worked in many parts of the world and have also been eager tourists, visiting so many inspiring and interesting places in between our busy work and family commitments. But we were craving a different approach to travel, one less rushed, where we could immerse and connect with the local people, learn new skills, and explore the creative heart and culture of an awesome city.
So we put together our own creative learning experience in New York City. There was an acting course to sharpen our communication and presentation skills. A painting course to create with freedom, without fear of right or wrong, good or bad and finally, a commitment to immerse ourselves in the local community and get to know one new person for each day we were there. We could then learn, be inspired and share ideas, whether for new adventures back home, business ideas, or simply ways to live a more creatively fulfilled life.
Although there will be no Oscars, or art work worthy of hanging at the Guggenheim, we returned home energised, happier and committed to creative change after an amazing experience. Friends and family were so interested in our story that they encouraged us to share it with you. So, with the skills and confidence gained from our own trip, knowledge from researching experiential learning, the power of creativity and the growth in wellness tourism, here we are.… Creative Cities 21.
